Simio Analysis: Pixelboxx included in Simio Navigator

published on 19.10.2021

Simio is the contact for companies that are on the path to digitalisation and want to improve their product communication. Simio is an analyst company that creates and publishes overviews of systems that are needed in the context of digital transformation.

Simio supports companies by identifying optimal systems and partners through analysis and consulting, which optimally fit their individual needs. The analysis of the systems is based on a very comprehensive catalogue of criteria.

Since excellent product communication requires not only technical product information, but also digital assets such as product images, videos, etc., it is possible to provide and manage these through digital asset management.

With the Pixelboxx Digital Asset Management System you can access all your digital media at any time and any place, securely stored within a central portal in the cloud. Optimise the management of your content and make your day-to-day work more efficient.

The Pixelboxx DAM has been subjected to Simio's analysis, where the following features particularly caught the eye:

  • Broadcasting-level video capabilities

Through a partnership with Arvato, Pixelboxx offers video functions on broadcasting level that leave hardly anything to be desired: All relevant video formats including previews can be saved in Pixelboxx. During import, the videos can be checked for minimum requirements (size, resolution, colour space, aspect ratio, file format, etc.) and relevant properties extracted for the asset search. Even spoken text is indexed. In addition, videos can be edited - representative of this are mentioned here: Editing, muxing/demuxing, geometry changes.

  • Modern user interface in Google Material Design

Pixelboxx offers a modern user interface in Google Material Design and is thus pleasant to use. Casual users therefore do not need to be trained, as the application behaves as users have learned on the web. The UI is very tidy - only a few control elements interfere with the concentration on the assets. Searching is greatly facilitated by real facets.

  • Product affinity

Product affinity: Although Pixelboxx also feels comfortable in usecases apart from product master data, there is extensive experience from various PIM integrations. Not only have integrations with various manufacturers been carried out - the integration strategies are also varied: whether asset picker in the PIM UI, query of product data during asset import or the PIM-triggered creation of the article structure in Pixelboxx with automatic start of the image acquisition process - Pixelboxx shows itself to be quite flexible in this point.

  • Supported by artificial intelligence

In contrast to many other manufacturers, Pixelboxx does not rely on external services for auto-tagging, but offers an internal service. The resulting improved data transmission behaviour has a positive effect on data protection aspects. Likewise, customer-specific products can be taught - this is where generally available services often fail.

  • Interaction in large environments

By using distributed application servers, Pixelboxx also supports large and globally distributed scenarios. On-site satellites take over the actual task of the application server and report to a central application server that functions as a global registry. For horizontal scaling, components can be outsourced to separate servers or are cluster-capable themselves, but microservice architecture is not currently available. Upgraded in this way, there are productive scenarios with up to 30 million assets.
